Want to change the narrative on falls in your community? I have something for you!
I am proud to be a volunteer of Safe Communities and the Falls Free Dane (FFD) Coalition. For the last 12 years (!!) I’ve been involved with their falls prevention initiative in Dane County, WI: The Balance Stamp of Approval (BSOA).
The BSOA is helping to increase accessibility to classes and activities that work to prevent falls and increase resiliency! I’m so proud of FFD and Safe Communities and thrilled to see it grow beyond Dane County!
In this video, hear from my friend (and participant of many of these classes) Alice, about how the classes have improved her life, “This program is about so much more than not falling down. It’s a way to kind of leap into a very rich, holistic way of living as an old lady.”
And guess what? Ballroom Basics for Balance is a proud recipient of the BSOA! See us featured in the video!
Want to bring this program to your community, to help identify activities that are balance-enhancing and to inspire people to lead balance-enhancing activities? Reach out to Susan at BB4B or to Safe Communities . We’ll share our process and all the materials with you!
This video was made possible thanks to funds from the Localizing Efforts to Address Falls (LEAF) mini grant awarded by the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging as part of the Falls Free® Wisconsin initiative.
